Traditional archery reaches back tens of thousands of years, forged in a time when the bow was essential to tribal defence, hunting, and survival. Across many ancient cultures, skilled archers were held in high regard—valued not only for their effectiveness in the field, but for the discipline and mastery the craft demanded. Archery was practiced as both art and sport, a lifelong pursuit of precision, patience, and control.
Today, the stakes are far lower, yet the bow still commands respect. In my experience, archery continues to be met with genuine enthusiasm by those who take it up. The entry point for beginners is modest, but as skill develops, so too do the challenges—and the rewards that come with earned proficiency.
Archery offers a rare balance of physical engagement and mental focus. It can be practiced on an indoor or outdoor target range, or carried into the woods on a developed 3D Archery Course—a walking trail of life-sized targets that tests judgment and marksmanship, much like an 18-hole course, but shaped by terrain rather than turf.
Instruction is delivered with safety, structure, and purpose. Lessons may be offered one-on-one, in semi-private sessions (two participants), or in small group settings, each guided by a qualified archery instructor. While the bow welcomes all who approach it with respect, age-specific instruction ensures proper progression and safety, with programs available for youth (ages 10–13), juveniles (14–17), and adults (18+).

3D Course Development
A 3D Archery Course is a test of skill and judgment—targets set along a lightly worn trail through forest and terrain, much like an 18-hole course, but shaped by the wild and measured with bow and arrow.
Red Feather Archery is a leader in 3D Course design and development. You provide the land; we plan and build a course that honors the terrain and challenges the archer. Resorts and retreats can host their own custom Red Feather Archery courses and competitions, built to endure and to be respected.
