Who we are. What we do & Why.

Traditional Archery predates tens of thousands of years and was critical among many ancient cultures & civilizations for tribal defense and hunting. Sharp shooting archers were highly sought after and practiced archery as both a sport and an art.

Today the stakes are much lower but in my experience, archery as an activity is still received with respect and enthusiasm. The participation level for beginners required is only moderated but as skill levels develop, so do the challenges and its rewards. Archery is a great way to spend an afternoon as it stimulates individuals physically and mentally and it can be enjoyed at an indoor or outdoor target range or on a casual hike through a developed 3D course – think 18 hole gold with a bow & arrow.

Instruction can be delivered in small groups of 1 to 5 participants, semi- private lessons with 2 participants and private lessons with an RFA instructor. While archery is enjoyed by everyone age-specific instructions can be provided for youth 9- 13, juveniles 14-17 and adults 18+

Archery requires physical endurance and develops mental strength and focus. It is a great physical activity that with time and dedication can help promote a healthy lifestyle as exercise and mental clarity.

– Safety & Risk Management –

Archery is a low risk sport if practiced safely. However, severe consequences of injury can be incurred. For this reason, risks are best mitigated with supervision of a trainer or a coach or an Archery Instructor. In addition, youths aged 9-13 must be accompanied by a Parent or a Guardian. All Red Feather Archery courses and ranges have suitable Arrow stops and backdrops with no Hard or jagged surfaces. (Rock, Concrete, metal) that stray arrows can ricochet. NO ARCHER SHALL DRAW AND LOOSE AN ARROW UNTIL THE TARGET RANGE AND OR 3D COURSE IS CLEARED BY COACH OR AN ARCHERY INSTRUCTOR. All Red Feather Archery Guides, Coaches & Instructors hold current (40hr) Advanced Wilderness First Aid ticket from various First Aid Training agencies or Hold an (80 Hour) Occupational First Aid Level III with WorkSafeBC. All Guides, Coaches and Instructors come from a multitude of diverse backgrounds related to Wildlife & forestry, Eco Tourism and Recreation and Leisure.
